ADOR Announces Tax License Renewal Updates

On October 1, 2020 the Alabama Department of Revenue (ADOR) announced Alabama taxpayers with the following licenses are now required to renew that license between November 1st and December 31st of 2020 and each year proceeding.

ADOR-issued sales tax
Rental tax
Sellers use tax
Lodging tax
Utility gross receipts tax
Simplified Sellers Use Tax (SSUT) license.

After current licenses expire on December 31, 2020 they will no longer be allowed to make tax-exempt purchases for resale or rental purposes. This will not include consumer use tax licenses.

Additionally, taxpayers must apply for a new tax license if they reorganize as a different type of business entity.

The on-line renewal process can be submitted through the ADOR’s “My Alabama Taxes” (MAT) website.
