Abbie Langan

Where are you from? Spanish Fort, AL
College and year in school: Auburn University – Senior
What led you to public accounting? I really enjoyed my first accounting class, which led me to major in accounting. Public accounting stood out to me because of all the experience I could gain by working with different types of clients in various industries.
What are you most excited to do/learn during your internship at Wilkins Miller? I am excited to work with and learn more about the different accounting software, as well as gain experience into what it is like during tax season.
Favorite thing to do on a day off: My favorite thing to do on a day off is to go to the beach.
What’s an interesting fact about you? I flipped a house with my family in high school.

Travis James

Where are you from? Semmes, AL
College and year in school: University of Mobile- graduate student getting my MBA
What led you to public accounting? Sophomore year my advisor told me that accountants make more money than people with finance degrees, so I changed my major that day and haven’t looked back.
What are you most excited to do/learn during your internship at Wilkins Miller? I’m most excited about getting more hands on/real world experience with accounting and being able to apply my book learning to real situations.
Favorite thing to do on a day off: Watch TV, play music, and do outdoor activities such as pickleball or going on walks
What’s an interesting fact about you? I have played saxophone for 13 years, and can also play guitar and piano.
What would you rate 10/10? A Foosacklys bigger box tossed in kung foo with ranch to dip

Michael Hopkinson

Where are you from? Mobile, AL
College and year in school: Spring Hill College Graduate – 2024, UNC-Chapel Hill – current Master’s student
What led you to public accounting? I was drawn to public accounting because it offers an opportunity to work with a team, problem-solve, and serve other people, which are all things that I love to do. Additionally, I find the critical thinking and continuous learning that is involved with accounting to be exciting.
What are you most excited to do/learn during your internship? I am most excited about the learning opportunity from this internship. I am excited to have a chance to work with a great team of people that I will be able to learn so many valuable skills from.
Favorite thing to do on a day off: Spend time in Fairhope with my wife, Caroline

Peyton King

Where are you from? Madison, AL
College and year in school: University of South Alabama – Senior
What led you to public accounting? My interest in accounting started in Mrs. Madden’s Financial Accounting class. Shortly after, I was given the opportunity to observe professionals at Wilkins Miller and learn about different career paths in public accounting. I was drawn to the opportunities for professional growth and the chance to work with clients across various industries.
What are you most excited to do/learn during your internship? I’m excited to gain hands-on experience preparing tax returns for individuals and businesses. This experience will allow me to apply what I’ve learned in the classroom and help me determine if tax accounting is the right career path for me.
Favorite thing to do on a day off: I love spending time outdoors and hanging out with friends.
What’s an interesting fact about you? I adopted a kitten named Lilly Belle last November, and she’s quickly become the head of the household.
