Jessica Mims

  • Where are you from? Clanton, AL
  • College and year in school: University of South Alabama – graduated Dec. 2018
  • What led you to public accounting? I love business and I’ve always wanted a job that not only challenged me but also gave me a sense of personal fulfillment. I really like that the accounting profession touches everyone’s life (one way or another).
  • What are you most excited to do/learn during your internship at Wilkins Miller? I am excited to learn how to best serve clients and how to become a valuable part of an accounting firm.
  • Favorite thing to do on day off: Traveling, reading, and playing with my dog, Ellie.

Connor Raley

  • Where are you from? Fairhope, AL
  • College and year in school: Senior at Spring Hill College
  • What led you to public accounting? In high school I spent a large amount of time talking with different professionals to try and see what career path best fit my personality and goals, and after much deliberation I was set on accounting. Thankfully I have loved and enjoyed all things accounting to date, so it seems I made the right choice. Public accounting in particular interests me because of the ability to work with such a large spread of clients.
  • What are you most excited to do/learn during your internship at Wilkins Miller? The opportunity to learn from the amazing professional staff here and the growth that will come with this experience.
  • Favorite thing to do on day off: I love to be outdoors whether it is playing sports with friends, going on a run, or just lying in a hammock in the sun reading a book.

Baxley Stokes

  • Where are you from? Mobile, AL
  • College and year in school: Senior at University of South Alabama
  • What led you to public accounting? Beginning with Wilkins Miller my senior year of high school really led me into public accounting as a career. Initially going into college my plan was to pursue a degree in accounting with the intention of going on to law school. Once I was in my first accounting class I began to see the logic behind accounting and enjoyed the problem solving that my accounting classes involved. As I began to progress through my coursework I knew accounting was for me because I enjoyed going to class and talking with my professors outside of class about their experiences in accounting.
  • What are you most excited to do/learn during your internship at Wilkins Miller? Reconnect with everyone at WM! Also, having done a tax season internship last spring I am excited to see the new tax law in effect and get outside of my classroom knowledge.
  • Favorite thing to do on day off: Run, swim, or bike to prepare for my next triathlon!

Jordynne McCarty

  • Where are you from? Waynesboro, MS
  • College and year in school: University of Southern Mississippi – graduated Dec. 2018
  • What led you to public accounting? Wilkins Miller, honestly. As soon as I became interested in accounting, I researched the best places to work in AL, and Wilkins Miller really stood out to me.
  • What are you most excited to do/learn during your internship at Wilkins Miller? I am most excited to learn all about tax because I have never had any experience with it.
  • Favorite thing to do on day off: Relax and spend time with family and friends
